Power: Semipermeable Deflective Field
What!?: Personal Force Field
Origins: Sally Blevins, or Skids, was a teenage runaway whose powers first manifested when her step-father struck her. Sally found herself living with the underground mutant community known as the Morlocks, but her normal appearance made her an outcast among them. Soon after, Skids meet Rusty Collins while he was on the run from Freedom Force for accidentally burning a woman with his powers. The two managed to outrun them long enough for X-Factor to interfere, saving them both.
Skids decided to join Rusty and X-Factor, earning the ire of Masque, who resented Skids for being immune to his ability to deform others. Skids and Rusty fell in love, and helped teach each other how to control their mutations. Freedom Force eventually captures Rusty and Skids, but they are then kidnapped and brainwashed by the Mutant Liberation Force under Stryfe. They fight various X-teams until they encounter the Acolytes, who they join after being freed from their brainwashing. After Rusty and most of the Acolytes died at the hands of Holocaust, Skids tries to become a normal college students. She briefly returns to activity to help X-Force and X-Corporation. Skids retains her powers after M-Day and joins Masque’s new Morlock terrorist group, taking part in chemical warefare and torture. It is revealed that Skids is actually a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent working undercover to stop Masque’s next attack.
Her Deal: Skids was a Morlock whose powers prevented her from touching anyone. Her natural appearance made her an outcast among the Morlocks, who saw beauty as unfair and cruel. She was specifically hated by Masque, a Morlock that loved to deform new initiates. Skids found a new home among X-Factor, and formed a team with the other X-Factor recruits called the X-Terminators, which eventually merged with the New Mutants. She is one of the few mutant S.H.I.E.L.D. members. She was in love with the late Rusty Collins.
Personality: Since becoming a runaway, Skids developed an aptitude for quick thinking and survival. She loved Rusty Collins, and was generally the more outgoing of the two. She seemed genuinely happy with her life and friends in X-Factor. Rusty’s death has a deep impact on Skids. After Rusty, Skids stayed away from most mutant-related activity. She may have had one or two brief stints with other mutants, but generally chose to stay away with the X-Men. When it was revealed that she worked for S.H.I.E.L.D., Skids true nature was revealed. She had become colder, willing to allow Masque to hurt others to maintain her cover. It seems that in order to move on with her life, Skids closed off part of her emotions.
